Demond’s Jamaican roots shine through on his new self-produced reggae-album “Under Oath”. That he grew up in England and now lives in Sweden might not be as obvious as is the fact that he is a natural singer and a talented multi-instrumentalist. He is a well sought-after studio musician that has played with Aswad, Dennis Brown, Boy George, David Byrne and Papa Dee just to name a few. He is as comfortable behind the bass as he is behind the guitar and the mic.

Desmond could without a doubt have made an album with the latest and trendiest sound, he is for example a long time hiphop/ragga producer. But instead, “Under Oath” is all about the timeless organic grooves that only spontaneous live-sessions can bring. Together with the crew at
Rub-a-Dub studios he has built tracks with a genuine old-time Jamaican sound & feeling. Acoustic pianos, Hammond B3 organs, violins etc brings warmth and dynamics.

In spite of all this, the new album is not a vintage trip down memory-lane but a serious attempt to move reggae-music forward again. Desmond has stirred together his own secret brew flavored with everything from hiphop/ragga to soul and even pure pop. Guest artists are rapper Muladoe and singer Jocelyn Mathieu (Blacknuss) as well as reggae-vocalists Leafnuts and Junior Dan.
